Vandalism fundraising

Our thanks to local media outlets for covering our theft.
South End Patch, Universal Hub and the Boston Globe all ran stories. "Assign guy" at FOX25 Boston also included us in his local report! Our report on the theft (with some photos) can still be found here. Someone reported seeing it on WHDH. on Sunday the Herald ran a very nice piece, emphasizing our need for a fence on the Dwight Alley

Unfortunately, the thieves came back Sunday night and stole
P1000866
the one tap on C row they had left in place. Please, if you ever walk by the garden after dark, please give a look inside and see some suspicious behavior, call local police and report it as soon as you can. Gardeners, please remember to lock the gates around sunset, and test to make sure you have locked them. As you may or may not have heard, Fenway gardens had a similar theft, so this is most likely a crime with a specific intent! Its more important than ever that we keep an eye out in our neighborhood for suspicious behavior anywhere we see it. If you have information about our thefts, please call Boston Police Detectives at 617-343-4683

We have begin fundraising to cover the cost of plumbing replacement. It will cost roughly $2,200 to replace all the water taps.

If you would like to help the garden, you can donate in one of three ways. All donations go to BNAN, our parent organization and owner, a non-profit agency.

  • You can donate on line by going to our Network for Good web site. Enter Berkeley Garden in the Designation field.
  • You can send a cheque to BNAN, 62 Summer Street, Boston, MA 02110-1016. Put Berkeley garden in the memo field.
  • For larger donations (or questions) contact BNAN Vice President Vidya Tikku via email or 617-542-7696

Thanks to all neighbors and business who have shown your support for us after this incident, and tho those who have already given to make up the cost - all your efforts are greatly appreciated!!
